Tryst DC (Adam's Morgan) is local favorite for coffee, socializing and their anytime blueberry pancakes. I was invited to exhibit my work for the monthly art showcase. For this show, I transformed the chill coffee house into a ephemeral Bauhaus of sustainability. Having been a visual merchandiser for years, I was perfectly OK with the disclaimer NO DAMAGE TO THE WALLS. So, with a little ingenuity, I suspended each piece with string and really really specific nails (quasi simulating a spiders web). About half way through the install, I overheard a young hipster student moaning about my "not normal" presentation. I assume the reclaimed mailbox converted into a lamp dangling at obtuse angles went against her conservative teachings.
